Celebrating Our 26th Year!

Through the driving vision of Mr. Gary Sumpter and Mrs. Mary Carden,  the Boone County Scholastic Team for Art and Greater Enrichment was founded in 1998.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank our outgoing Director, Ms. Chelsea Price on her many years of service to the STAGE program. Chelsea was not only our Director, she is our friend, a mentor for the students and a vital link in the chain to helping make the Fine Arts programs within Boone County a success. We wish Chelsea well on her future endeavors, and to let her know that she will ALWAYS be a part of our family. We love you Chelsea, thank you so much for your hard work and dedication.

The Boone County STAGE Program would like to welcome our new Director Mr. Patrick Carte! Patrick also serves as the Band Director for Scott High School. We have high hopes and expectations for Mr. Carte. With the absence of Ms. Price, Mr. Carte has some big shoes to fill, but we’re confident that Patrick will meet the challenge.

Through a stipend from Appalachian Community Theater, STAGE now has on a year-by-year basis, an Assistant to the Director. These past two years, our very own Abby (Brown) Randolph has stepped up to the task. Abby is a veteran musician and actress, with a variety of shows under her belt. A graduate of Scott High School and WV State University, Abby is employed fulltime by the Bible Center Church of Charleston at their private school.

Our Technical Director – John Holstein, and Musical Director – Robin Bailey,  are well rooted in the area as Scott High School Alums. The performing Arts of Boone County have a rich and valued history that goes back for generations. Many of our graduates have went on to perform at various levels from college, university and arts academies with others making their way to other venues on the National level. Typically serving between 60 and 80 students from across Boone County, many participants find that scholarships are available for those seeking higher education in the fine arts.

Our alumni benefit from the experience in a variety of ways, expanding their abilities and broadening their horizons. We reach for the stars and pursue our dreams; we progress in life and in the process, learn about ourselves and the process of creating something wonderful to share with our friends, neighbors and family. Performing Arts is a large portion of what we do, which includes acting, dance, and music. We also incorporate a variety of other skills into the production and through each step, students have the opportunity to participate in the set development and building, the lighting, the audio, costume design, choreography, directing, and the list goes on and on! The local adult program, Appalachian Community Theatre, presents one or two shows per-year and assists the Boone County STAGE program with productions, labor and funding.

So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! The Director is about to raise the curtain and present to you, Boone County STAGE!
